Breast Augmentation/ Breast Enlargement

Many women often feel unhappy with the shape or size of their breasts.

For some women with smaller breasts or breasts which have reduced in size or shape following childbirth or weight loss, lack of self-confidence can become a real problem. Both pregnancy and weight loss are the most common causes for women who lose breast shape and size. Clothes which once fitted perfectly now look baggy, while buying new clothes and underwear often becomes difficult when the breasts lose proportion to the body. Age also influences how breasts change, with increasing natural sagging as women get older.

Breast Augmentation and reduction can help this condition by reshaping the breasts to make you look and feel more confident.

Breasts Augmentation is also known as augmentation mammaplasty or breast enlargement is the surgical placement of breast implants or autologous fat transfer to the breast to make breasts bigger and fuller and improve symmetry of the breasts or to restore breast volume lost after childbirth, weight loss or due to the ageing process. It can be done for reconstructive purposes, such as after mastectomy for breast cancer, or for cosmetic reasons. It is very common now, especially in women in their twenties and also for men who wish to enhance, regain or restore balance to their figures (around chest).

There are the following options available to augment your breasts which can be chosen on the basis of your body shape, medical history and aesthetic goals.

Silicone-filled breast implants –

A silicone breast implant consists of a silicone shell which is filled with soft, thick and elastic silicone gel (a synthetic polymer) and available in different shapes. The silicone implant incision is larger than the saline implant incision because the silicone implant is filled before insertion into the body. The silicone gel closely resembles the feel of natural breast tissue and have a more natural look and feel than saline implants. Silicone breast implants are FDA-approved for breast augmentation in women age 22 or older.

Cohesive gel silicone implants –

Also known as “Gummy bear” breast implants or “form stable” implants as they maintain their shape even when the implant shell is broken. These implants are filled with a cohesive gel which is made up of crosslinked molecules of silicon, which makes them a bit thicker and firmer than traditional silicone implants.

Autologous fat transfer –

This is a surgical procedure in which an individual’s own body fat is harvested using liposuction from a fat-yielding body part like from abdomen, thighs, buttocks or flanks, processed and then injected into your breasts. This is a less common method than breast implant augmentation and is still undergoing research and clinical studies for safety and effectiveness.

If there is any sagging or drooping of your breasts then your cosmetic surgeon might combine any of these breast augmentation options with a breast lift.

The Result –

The benefits are self-evident. Your breasts will be larger, fuller, firmer and appear more shapely..
