The ‘S-Lift’ is performed under local anaesthesia with or without twilight sedation, which means you can normally return home the very same day (although an overnight stay in hospital is sometimes recommended).
A special anaesthetic solution is injected underneath the skin, which numbs and also helps assist the Doctor to lift the skin from the area. The ‘S’ shaped incision is made following the natural curve of the ear and extended to either side of the temple or ear.
The skin is then lifted and the area underneath; muscles and tissues are tightened and repositioned. Excess fat is removed and the opening is then closed using very fine stitches.
The technique also helps reduce the risk of nerve damage and reduces heavy bleeding. Most treatments last around 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the patient’s requirements.
What exactly is S-Lift?
‘S-Lift’ is a new technique of facelift, which helps rejuvenate the face and neck area by reversing the ageing process and help you regain some of your more youthful looks. The shape of the incision is what gives this treatment its name, as an ‘S’ shape is used to address the problem area. The principle is to make the shortest possible incision to hide it as much as possible.
Although much of this is part of natural ageing, it can also become accelerated by many other factors including: smoking, weight loss, or exposure to the sun’s UV rays. The ‘S-Lift’ technique, tightens facial skin and the underlying muscles, to give a more youthful fresh look. The technique also benefits by giving a less artificial look of more traditional facelifts.
The technique is very popular and results to date have shown an extremely high level of patient satisfaction. Some of these reasons are because of the minimal amount of invasion and incisions which result in less scarring.
It’s also far quicker to perform and involves fewer complications and offers a reduced recovery time (downtime). The effect lasts less than a conventional facelift-normally around 3 to 6 years.
After recovery?
Here at The Aesthetic Beauty Centre, we’re confident that you will be over-the-moon with the results. Our post-treatment care includes 24 hour access to the doctor and aftercare following.
Why is ‘S-Lift’ so popular and what are the benefits?
As we grow older, the skin loses some of its elasticity, allowing it to become thinner. This results in creases, wrinkles and folds appearing. The mouth can also droop especially at the corner and the jaw too, creating a ‘jowl’ appearance. Fatty deposits can also collect around the neck and also below the chin.
What are the after effects?
As with most surgery, the body suffers a certain amount of trauma. Everyone’s body is different, including general level of health and fitness. All of these factors have an effect on the healing process. If you also smoke, drink alcohol, are overweight and take drugs for whatever reason, it may affect the risk of complications.
Here at the Aesthetic Beauty Centre, we discourage smoking in particular, as it greatly increases the risk of infection and affects the healing process.
What happens after the treatment?
The Doctor will speak with you as soon as you come round from the anaesthetic, just to check that you are feeling well. Usually patients are discharged the very same day. The Doctor will give you medication and post-treatment instructions and will apply a small bandage over the incision which will stay on for 2 days.
Most patients return to normal day-to-day activities after 10 days including work. You will also receive a check-up with a nurse 7 to 10 days after the treatment, whereupon stitches are removed.
Qualified doctors will discuss the procedure before any treatment, explaining any possible side effects.
